Handing in Waivers -Quarantine and timelines - Post here

Post real application stories here. Not "A guy told me" or "a few of my clients" but specific client experiences so others can see accurately what is happening.

There are rare exceptions, but whether you file a waiver, or a waiver AND an I-212 you simply get a waiver in return. That's why I tell clients to wait. Its an extra $930USD for the exact same waiver.

Sorry, that was meant for the response below

Sorry June 14th, not 16th.

Replies (recent first):

@David79 If you "paper-filed it" it will probably take well into December,

@Merina June 14th through eSAFE? Then you are about a month away.

No just for dui as stated … they wanted the doctor to say I won’t be drinking and driving in the USA and that’s all

@Samson13245567754467 did they ask for a panel to be done for the marijuana?

6 month waiver.

This client has a sexually based offence, but has been given 3 straight 6 month waivers.

@Ana Its impossible to give an exact formula.

The older the problem, and the least serious the problem, the better the chances.

Less than 10 years ago? Then you could get a 1 year waiver. COULD.

J Rogers replied 5 months ago   #1217

@J Rogers
on the last approval you shared - was that a first time applicant? I’m just trying to understand the situation for when they issue a 1 year vs. 5 year approval. Thank you.

The client who was denied had a sexually based offence. We did not think the chances were great going in.

5 year waiver. Long timeline and he has had 2 waiver before, both for 5 years. He has a sexual assault which is obviously
why it was delayed, the surprise was just that he has never had to wait before.

waiver denied. I am posting THIS timeline to show you how long a waiver can take when it is denied.

Note 11 months 9 days form the time the person went to the border. Not all of them take this long when denied.

@SarahB

This is VERY useful. So this person went to the border on April 12th. We are getting in Waiver for May 8th right now. If took them a full month and 7 days to even send out the request for more information.

So this "illustrates" that although they probably looked at the file a month ago, the person who asks for the information still took some time to even ask.

If your file is before May 8th, it could take a while to hear for many reasons, including a request for additional information.

I try and shows things that are the exception to the rule. They ask quite a few DIY'ers for additional information, and this is something I do get asked about privately quite a bit.

J Rogers replied 5 months ago   #1211

@J Rogers how is this useful to anyone who didn’t get asked for additional information and still waiting! I mean I know you don’t know why really but to use this to highlight something that’s been mentioned almost every time you have a client that has waited for a longer period of time is just so weird.

SarahB replied 5 months ago   #1210

For those of you who are "past" the regular time to get a waiver.

This client went to the border April 12th, today they got asked for court documents for a charge that was withdrawn.

I have shown you this to illustrate and example of a waiver delayed, and why.

This client had charges withdrawn in 2022.
Now they want court documents, and a written explanation.
