Handing in Waivers -Quarantine and timelines - Post here

Post real application stories here. Not "A guy told me" or "a few of my clients" but specific client experiences so others can see accurately what is happening.

There are rare exceptions, but whether you file a waiver, or a waiver AND an I-212 you simply get a waiver in return. That's why I tell clients to wait. Its an extra $930USD for the exact same waiver.

Sorry, that was meant for the response below

Client #2 entered the United States illegally in 2010.

Sorry June 14th, not 16th.

Replies (recent first):

@BrooksH Remember, most first waivers are NOT 1 year waivers. My waiver load is probably pretty typical, and its 80% 5 year waivers, 20% 1 years.

Time and seriousness of the offence, IF IT IS DONE PROPERLY. In other words, if, like most people, you don't shit the bed in the personal letter. The biggest mistake with DIY'ers is the personal letter.

@Samson36478589888 I feel the same. Not as long as you but mine is 10 1/2 months now. I turned mine in person though.

Oliver replied 2 weeks ago   #1638

@NSpring can I ask what your charges were and how long ago to get 5 year right away if you don’t want to say that’s fine :)

BrooksH replied 2 weeks ago   #1637

I'm past the 1 year mark now idk what is going on lol I give up at this point

Samson36478589888 replied 2 weeks ago   #1636

@NSpring yay so exciting!! Fingers crossed mine comes today too. Mine was Aug 2nd.

Surreygirl replied 2 weeks ago   #1635

@NSpring if nothing in the next 2 weeks then probably went to a supervisor. But its not ONE line, I have many July waivers that are still pending.

J Rogers replied 2 weeks ago   #1633

@J Rogers my waiver was submitted on July 30th to ARO. Should I be worried at this point about it being denied or going to a supervisor? or do you think they are still working through the last week of July?

@J Rogers I’m just glad to see they are indeed working today! Ahh shit a denial that sucks. Mine is 3 PPT convictions from 15 years ago so now I’m worried. Although this person re offended only 5 years ago so that’s pretty bad. When you say trafficking do you actually mean trafficking or PPT?

Surreygirl replied 2 weeks ago   #1630

I am happy for you......... sweet dreams..

Amelia Rogers replied 2 weeks ago   #1629

@Surreygirl I understand, thank you for the explanation. I know its frustrating.

For those who worry about a rejection timeline, here is one from today.

2 trafficking convictions, 21 years apart, last one 5 years ago. They had problems with BOTH of those issues.

@J Rogers I feel like those statements were directed a me lol. I appreciate all your help I’m just a very anxious person and a perfectionist. I do feel like people can easily do it themselves especially with the help of this forum, I just tend to over analyze and over think things. The questions I wanted clarification on are probably straightforward questions for most people but I’m OCD and over complicate things.

Amelia Rogers is not related or connected to me. (that doesn't mean her advice isn't good obviously)

Because I am trying to cram everyone who has paid me into this tiny window I have left before April 1st, and am working basically 20 hour days, I will let others answer any easy questions. Once April 1st passes back to normal.

These 2 statements don't go together

you can do this easily yourself

can you answer these 4 questions? Because I don't want to make a mistake, but I also want to do everything myself

Imagine after working until 4am, then getting back to work for 9am why you might be reluctant to answer, although I am happy others stepped up.

Thanks to everyone who have been sharing knowledge.

Many people who are faced with an inadmissibility determination believe that they will never be able to obtain a waiver or enter the US again. This is simply not true. For almost all types of inadmissibility classes, a waiver is available and there is always an option to challenge the determination. Apply I believe that with the right approach, there is always a hope to win.

Question for those with experience here: are waivers less likely to be granted for Class I drug possession versus when it's just weed? Does it make a difference if the possession happened 25 years ago or does the Class I trump time?

waiverwait replied 3 weeks ago   #1623

@J Rogers I know you're super busy but do you think you could answer my question in the other chat called Timelines? Trying to do a renewal myself and just have a quick question about the application form.

@SKgirl No ignorance, I just happen to do this every day, you of course are trying to learn.

A September Letter is a euphemism for a letter stating "You do not need a waiver, you can cross" and its permanent.

Please forgive me if sometimes my answers are blunt.
