Handing in Waivers -Quarantine and timelines - Post here

Post real application stories here. Not "A guy told me" or "a few of my clients" but specific client experiences so others can see accurately what is happening.

There are rare exceptions, but whether you file a waiver, or a waiver AND an I-212 you simply get a waiver in return. That's why I tell clients to wait. Its an extra $930USD for the exact same waiver.

Sorry, that was meant for the response below

Sorry June 14th, not 16th.

Replies (recent first):

1 year waiver.

Mild surprise. 6 convictions from 1993-2002. Pardon granted as well. First waiver but I am not sure why only a 1 year. 2002 Was using Fake ID to enter Canada, so maybe some concern there?

I went trough the border for the first time a lil while ago for the first time since I got my waiver.

Just a little warning for people intending to go into the US via air, if you got a layover in Canada before crossing the border I recommend you have at least 3 hours in case you have to go for secondary screening. I only had approximately 2 hrs and I made it just in time for the boarding, and I been lucky for some reason they accelerate the screening.

Just something to take into consideration

KatM replied 11 months ago   #1026

@J Rogers Okay Ty,

Thanks all. Feels pretty darn good. I wish you all the best with yours.

Skuiggles replied 11 months ago   #1025

@Skuiggles glad you finally got your waiver. Congratulations! @DT yes this is what I meant on took over a year to process. It must be like someone said a “typo”

SarahB replied 11 months ago   #1024

@Skuiggles

Just use the old court. The reference letters just as you said. Improve the personal letter.

J Rogers replied 11 months ago   #1023

@Skuiggles
That’s awesome happy for you

Kev replied 11 months ago   #1022

@J Rogers I think the person asked if the waiver took a year based on the timeline posted. Unless it’s an error, the waiver took 17 months to be approved?

It says submitted to ARO 1/3/2022

DT replied 11 months ago   #1021

@J Rogers Just some questions on reapplying.

Do I need to request new court records as well or can I utilize the records from the initial application?

Is it common to use the same reference letters but have them updated and resigned by those involved? Or should they all be rewritten and new ones?

Skuiggles replied 11 months ago   #1020

@Skuiggles Congrats! So happy for you.

christinadwillow replied 11 months ago   #1019

@Skuiggles

That is not an easy waiver. Congratulations!

J Rogers replied 11 months ago   #1018

One year waiver granted!!! Whoop!!

2019 convictions - B&E with Intent, Use of disguise with Intent, Failure to comply.
6 months conditional sentence.

Basis of favorable action was noted as: Humanitarian

Skuiggles replied 11 months ago   #1017

@KatM Congrats on the waiver

Skuiggles replied 11 months ago   #1016

@KatM Congratulations! Remember, your situation is unique, so once you have the details, please share as much as your comfortable sharing.

To the people saying "its 2022" yes, they did eSAFE in 2022, handed it in just after New Years. This is the first January 2023 Waiver posted. The timelines make perfect sense.

Weekends. I do not think so. They did send out a batch on Good Friday, but even that is technically a weekday. That is a shame about the Graduation. This can be a frustrating process at times.

J Rogers replied 11 months ago   #1015

@DT it’s the E2 investor visa. I’m 99% sure it’s for 5 years but won’t know until I get my passport back. They didn’t actually tell me I got the waiver, just to send in my passport to “conclude the visa application”

[ KatM appended this reply on May 12, 2023 @ 5:30 am ]

Yes that sounds sketchy but i didn’t get my hopes up until I spoke to my lawyer who confirmed that it means they approved the waiver

KatM replied 11 months ago   #1014

@KatM would you mind sharing the type of waiver you got and how long it’s valid for?
