Handing in Waivers -Quarantine and timelines - Post here

Post real application stories here. Not "A guy told me" or "a few of my clients" but specific client experiences so others can see accurately what is happening.

There are rare exceptions, but whether you file a waiver, or a waiver AND an I-212 you simply get a waiver in return. That's why I tell clients to wait. Its an extra $930USD for the exact same waiver.

Sorry, that was meant for the response below

Sorry June 14th, not 16th.

Replies (recent first):

@YoungAndDumb I am also thinking the same. I am a first time applicant and waiting 8+ months.

@appliedjuly22 I am also waiting applied in Dec 01 2023. At that time, they told me that I should expect to hear within 6 months but I am still waiting.

@appliedjuly2022 & @jrogers

Again, first time applicant here, so this is my first time dealing with the process.

That being said, to me it seems that renewals are being handled much quicker than fresh applications at least generally speaking.

I don't know if this is fact if fiction, maybe John can chime in- but it seems like 1st time applications are taking closer to 8 - 10 months, while renewals are being handled closer to the 5 - 7 range.

@J Rogers Is it not super weird that there's still many waivers from November & December still not completed?

appliedjuly22 replied 4 months ago   #1950

@J Rogers I'm getting worried about my March 7 submitted date! Hope I'm not one of the ones being skipped over.
Are you still seeing approvals for early March?

@YoungAndDumb it'll take approx 6-8 months. If you're lucky it'll take 5... if you're unlucky it'll take 10. We're all in the same waiting game boat.

appliedjuly22 replied 4 months ago   #1946

@Hot Shot

I applied for my first ever waiver in May 2024, 10 years after my conviction (summary offence) for which I received 90 days (only served a few weekends)

So now it's been just around 3 months since I applied (yes, completed biometrics and everything)

Basically wondering if I might get some news by November or December, or if I'll have to wait around until spring.

YoungAndDumb replied 4 months ago   #1945

@YoungAndDumb
95% renewals. If it's new then they have waited 3 years min before the 1st application. So the success rate is higher here obviously. So you are at 15 months now?

Hot Shot replied 4 months ago   #1944

Are these timelines you are posting renewals, or new applications?

I submitted my first ever application back in early May. At the time I was told 8 - 10 months, but these timelines seem considerably quicker than that!

@J Rogers I know it is considered a conviction in the USA, I am just curious to know what kind of outcomes you have seen with someone with a conditional discharge. It has been 4.5 years since the admission of guilt

The CHI replied 4 months ago   #1941

@Skuiggles same as everyone gets. That is why email inquiries for eSAFE users is a waste of time.

Chi: A conditional discharge is a CONVICTION. The only difference is how it is removed. The more time since you plead guilty the better.

J Rogers replied 4 months ago   #1940

@J Rogers in your experience what kind of outcomes have you seen for the following situation; tried to cross border with a conditional discharge but before the 3 years were up. Told me now I needed a waiver to cross the border in future. Thank you,

@surreygirl, I had a client this happened...It took almost 30 days for system to update, I am not really sure what happened. But I told her to drive back to the POE she went to and ask them to review...she did and only after she made the trip did the file get updated.
