Handing in Waivers -Quarantine and timelines - Post here

Post real application stories here. Not "A guy told me" or "a few of my clients" but specific client experiences so others can see accurately what is happening.

There are rare exceptions, but whether you file a waiver, or a waiver AND an I-212 you simply get a waiver in return. That's why I tell clients to wait. Its an extra $930USD for the exact same waiver.

Sorry, that was meant for the response below

Client #2 entered the United States illegally in 2010.

Sorry June 14th, not 16th.

Replies (recent first):

Its actually humiliating that the us government makes canadians wait soo long just to temporary visit the usa mean while other nationals enter quicker due to not sharing every single detail about criminal convictions

Samson36478589888 replied 2 months ago   #1455

@Surreygirl Numerous; 2x theft over $5K, 3x breach conditions, 3x possession stolen property, 1x Evade police, criminal dangerous driving. This was all from 2002-2003.

SB replied 2 months ago   #1454

@J Rogers oh okay. Wishful thinking I guess.

Another quick question. My Waiver is likely getting approved in March for 1 year only so I want to apply again before April fee increase. Can I use the same police record from July 2023? It will be older than 15 months by the time the ARO approves waiver but will be valid if it’s based on the date I submitted.

Surreygirl replied 2 months ago   #1453

@Surreygirl

If you read in other places I have explained why they are increasing the fee.

I watch the ratios very carefully and truthfully I have seen NO change in the ratio of 1 to 5 year waivers. My ratio is about 75-25 5 to 1

J Rogers replied 2 months ago   #1452

@SB wow congrats! May I ask how many convictions and what type? I’m hoping for a 5 year, it’s been 15 years but they are drug charges so might only get 1 year.

Surreygirl replied 2 months ago   #1451

@J Rogers Just speculation but it looks like a lot of 5 year waivers are being granted recently. Do you think the increased fee in April is because they are leaning towards granting more 5 year waivers to cut down on the backlog?

Also wondering when you renew your waiver does it start after the existing one expires or does it start right away?

Surreygirl replied 2 months ago   #1450

@Samson13245567754467

Yes but a year simply means its with a supervisor.

J Rogers replied 2 months ago   #1449

Do u have clients that waited close to a year and got approved ?@J Rogers

Samson13245567754467 replied 2 months ago   #1448

Got mine this morning
First time waiver, 5 years. Did the application myself.
My convictions were from over 20 years ago.

Sometimes nice things happen to nice people. This lady wanted to go to the Super Bowl and her fight leaves tonight. She was on pins and needles for the last 3 weeks as we couldn't tell if she would get the waiver in time.

As you can see, 630 AM today. We are all so happy for her.

@J Rogers From months to days? Wow, does it depend on case?

happyfeet replied 3 months ago   #1440

Generally its a couple of months once you provide the information they request but I have had waiver literally granted days after as well.

J Rogers replied 3 months ago   #1439

@J Rogers is it a couple days or months when it is request for more info because I have been delayed i think 2 months im still waiting for a response from them

Samson36478589888 replied 3 months ago   #1438

@Hotshot

I have a client that was sent a "request for more information" and he went to the border June 22.

So it will skip ahead a couple of days here and there as well. I am always pretty consistent so its hard to tell which months are busiest because logically there are 3 types of waiver.
1. New waivers which correspond to people being stopped
2. Waiver renewals
3. Immigration waivers which follow closely with #1

I bet a lot of people are denied in the summer, and December. I don't know exactly the stats on the busiest months for travel to the US but not everyone does a waiver right after they are stopped either.

Especially my white male clients. They are never stopped for ANYTHING so it takes them a while to get over the fact that they actually aren't WANTED. Usually a few months or years have to pass first. Even then they usually apply reluctantly.

@J Rogers
So the processing days are increasing still eh, 7 months and 2 weeks.
