Handing in Waivers -Quarantine and timelines - Post here

Post real application stories here. Not "A guy told me" or "a few of my clients" but specific client experiences so others can see accurately what is happening.

There are rare exceptions, but whether you file a waiver, or a waiver AND an I-212 you simply get a waiver in return. That's why I tell clients to wait. Its an extra $930USD for the exact same waiver.

Sorry, that was meant for the response below

Client #2 entered the United States illegally in 2010.

Sorry June 14th, not 16th.

Replies (recent first):

So the quarantine uncertainty continues. Some clients have been able to beat it, but a small group (all women) have been getting self quarantine.

This is an email one of them got when they applied for an exemption.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is committed to limiting the spread of COVID-19 in Canada, while facilitating travel and trade.

The Quarantine, Isolation and Other Obligations(QIOO) Order in Council (OIC) entitled Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 in Canada Order (Quarantine, Isolation and Other Obligations), has been made pursuant to section 58 of the Quarantine Act. The QIOO has effect for the period beginning on May 21, 2021 (11:59:59 PM) and ending on June 21, 2021 (11:59:59 PM).

This order requires any traveller entering Canada, unless exempt, to isolate for 14 days if they have symptoms of COVID-19, or to quarantine (self-isolate) themselves for 14 days if they are asymptomatic. There are circumstances under this Order which may be considered exempt from the 14 day quarantine, but they are purposefully limited.

Based on the description of your travel and information provided, we have determined that the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has deemed you exempt from quarantine. Please retain this correspondence as confirmation you are exempt from quarantine for your trip dated 21-JUN-21.

As a reminder, if you have COVID-19 symptoms, you must isolate for 14 days, regardless of this exemption. Possible symptoms of COVID-19 can be found by following the link entitled “symptoms of COVID-19.”
Due to the overwhelming number of requests received each day for removal from quarantine, PHAC will be notified however clients may still receive emails or calls. While this may be an inconvenience, the global pandemic of Covid-19 has created unprecedented challenges. While we can understand the difficulties faced by individuals and businesses alike, the travel restrictions are in place to protect the public health of all Canadians.

So she was exempted.

Something Different. This person does NOT have their waiver yet, they got a "Request for additional documentation" with an 87 day time limit.

As you can see, I responded immediately (in 2 days) with 13 pages of documents. This is actually a very serious offence from 2017 so I knew it would require a LOT of work. The offence is serious, but the person has no prior offences, was barely 18 at the time, and has a lot of rehabilitation documentation. Note it took barely a month for Homeland Security to ask for additional documentation, much shorter than in the past. No mail means the request was received immediately, and we can respond immediately as well.

This male was the head of a Toronto gang and was actually convicted of something VERY serious but it was overturned on Appeal. Also various drug offences. I was shocked he got a 1 year before covid and now he has a 5 year waiver.

Just an update for everyone.

eSAFE works incredibly well. The speed as you can see is unparalleled.

A typical waiver application works like this;

-Client comes to office, does fingerprints, gives basic information. Also gets a couple of documents to gather.
-2 weeks later, fingerprints are in. Client makes appointment to come back to office with documents.
-Clients documents are scanned. All documents scanned. Client goes home and file is entered and uploaded into eSAFE. They take all the documents WITH them
-Client is told file is completed and either a) enter their payment into eSAFE or b)I will do it for them.
-Client then makes appointment at Niagara Falls. Usually they can go next day
-Once Fingerprints are done at Niagara Falls, waiver is uploaded into their eSAFE profile. They get an email indicating "your file has been updated" from Homeland Security

As you can see above, some files take 2 weeks. Some are as little as 7 days. I will give the clients the option when the border opens but I will encourage eSAFE to be the #1 choice.

As you can see, there is transparency here, and proof from ACTUAL clients that this works. This is why I am posting some of the "read-outs" so people can see actual results. Please let me know if there is any other information that is helpful.

@ Bob, I can tell you that Canada Immigration is telling people to quarantine that have filed at the BC borders. Apparently, they have told our clients that they have to quarantine if they have stepped out of their vehicles to enter the CBP border station. I will assume that Niagara will say the same. The ARO director has already stated on 4/15/2021 that her agency will try to process waiver applications between 10 and 30 days upon receipt. However, this will likely change as more people file waivers.

@BobI94

I have seen both. 2 clients quarantined, 3 not. (all in the last week)

The latest guy told me he told them he didn't get out of his car, (which isn't actually true) but it seemed to work.

Officially, you have to quarantine. Unofficially, they aren't making everyone quarantine.

I client was a truck driver, so that seemed to make them not quarantine him.

This is at the Ontario/Niagara Falls/Rainbow Bridge Border only.

J Rogers replied 3 years ago   #4

if we are going to cross border just to submit finger prints at Niagara or peace bridge border do we have to quarantine either in US or Canada after coming back? This is for person who is applying waiver renewal (waiver for non essential travel ). We are just going from GTA to border just to give finger prints and come back immediately.
Appreciate if any one can provide confirmed information..

bob194 replied 3 years ago   #3

This was actually woman "A" not sure why it was removed.
She had a 1 year waiver, re-application, criminal record in Canada.

Result - 5 year waiver. 13 days from fingerprinting.

Downside was he son went with her and now has to quarantine

Another one

Male Client B

Truck Driver - Criminal Record - First application. Niagara Falls

5/28/2021, 12:04 PM EDT : Status changed to Completed
5/20/2021, 03:33 PM EDT : Status changed to Submitted to ARO

So that is 8 days after fingerprinting. Result - 5 year waiver.

Pros - Super Fast
Cons - None, the officer said he should make him quarantine, he told them he was a truck driver, he said it was fine, no quarantine.
