@Jazzsax1 The circumstances also matter. So that could be a factor.

@1981, Adelaide, no worries..the media is famous for not providing all details, or fabricating details..One subject that is "never mentioned" because it is so difficult Is the fact that someone has mental health issues...This can be listed in CPIC, especially if they tried to commit suicide, with a child around, or threatened a spouse/partner with suicide. Or if they have been found not "criminally responsible" for a criminal action...This can and will be a reason to deny a person into the USA..but thankfully, is not common. Another tabo issue is "health related issues" again a very touchy subject, but it does exists.

Well if I was likely to only get a 1 year waiver anyway, even with waiting to 5 years, I am tempted to work on mine now so I can push sooner towards getting that 3 or 5 year on renewal.

Can I give you a shout next week to chat through the circumstances of that approval to see how it compares to mine?

@Heritage
E-safe is a new online application system that is supposed to speed up the process a lot. Many people have received waivers in less than 10 days from the time of submission

https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/e-safe

You can still apply in person and the old process has not changed so it takes much longer. I read a lengthy document published about Esafe and the reason it is faster is because it digitally communicates with the various government agencies. The long wait of a manually completed waiver has to do with all the security checks they send off to FBI, etc. E-safe does all this stuff digitally and instantly.

Unfortunately, you can only apply for an E-safe waiver through certain ports of entry as "pilot" ports. They are planning to add more.

There must be more to the story..maybe she was not a Canadian citizen..maybe going to do work in the USA? Has a criminal history or police involvement? Maybe has a previous incident with USA..something was a flag for Customs..

#1975, Jazzsax 1, if you are approved for waiver, you would most likely get a 1 year to begin with, then a 5 year on renewal. I am confident that Happy1, will get a 5 year next time.

Michelle replied 4 years ago   #1934

So happy1 got a 1 year for a fraud over charge from 2016.... that's good news! Mine was from 2015 so that *might* bode well depending on the circumstances.

I am at 4 years post conviction (not charge) now (5 years next october). Debating... debating...

Wondering if I would see a longer waiver at 5 years, or likely just a 1 year?

jazzsax1 replied 4 years ago   #1933

@Happy1, you were a pleasure to work with also...Enjoy your travels...

Michelle replied 4 years ago   #1932

@Happy1 that is a good result from a 50/50 situation. I tell people 3 years gives you a fighting chance, but it certainly is not guaranteed. Great work Michelle! For everyone else, Fraud over is an indictable offence USUALLY, so that makes this result more impressive.

John Rogers replied 4 years ago   #1931

What is the difference between an eSafe application and a waiver application?

Heritage replied 4 years ago   #1930

@ChrisD No mine was not Esafe

Happy1 replied 4 years ago   #1929

@John Rogers - yes I have heard it is very fast for people. I have only heard from people though, like your scenario for renewals. Mine was not a renewal.. Wondering if anyone has had same speedy process on non-renewals.

@Happy1 - did you apply on esafe?

ChrisD replied 4 years ago   #1928

I just wanted to let everyone know I received a 1 year waiver today! Applied April 9 and the letter was dated September 30. Waiver was needed for a fraud over charge from 2016. If it wasn’t for Michelle’s help and guidance I don’t know if I would have had this outcome! So excited to be able to travel with my family again!!

Happy1 replied 4 years ago   #1927

@ChrisD every example I have had with eSafe has been very quick. I just a had another client do it (re-application) and he had it in less than 10 days.

John Rogers replied 4 years ago   #1926

Anyone have any recent experience with Esafe? I applied on October 2nd and I have heard it happens quite quickly with esafe. Wondering if anyone else has recent experience

ChrisD replied 4 years ago   #1925

@Adelaide its HatsBootsHatsBoots. If you look at the time of the posts and even the syntax, its seems to point to him.

John Rogers replied 4 years ago   #1924

@John Rogers

You should watch your blood pressure, seems your blood boils every time you speak of Hats.
