Did someone who submitted their first application in the last year receive it in less than a year? 10 months? 8 months? Does this delay still exist or is it really over?

1st was approved for 1 year in 2019.
This one is approved for 5 years.

In contrast, here is a guy form last week, he is older so we check on his email periodically and we discovered he had the waiver today.

Instead of "Completed" in eSAFE is says

The instead of saying "ARO decision"

it says "Additional Support Documentation"

But it was the 5 year waiver, he had a 1 year, and a VERY serious record.

You will either get it VERY soon, or in a few months. But you should not even wait a full 12 months from the date you went to the border. If your
"lawyer" is telling you 12-18 months they simply don't do waivers. So you may be their only recent waiver. Don;t use them again and also you need to get them to constantly CHECK on it every 2-3 weeks. If they have few waivers on the go then they probably don't understand to log in and check it.

You guys are giving me hope...

My lawyer is adamant that I will not get a waiver for 12-18 months after biometrics. Previous lawyer I used for this retired in 2023, so I had to find a new one. They have been absolutely terrible and negative. They seem like they just don't want to be bothered. They could at least spend a few minutes answering e-mails for the $2000 I paid them. I had all documents and everything ready to go, they literally did nothing except set up the e-safe account and submit the paperwork I provided.

This would be my third waiver; previously had a 1-year granted in 2019, then a 5-year granted in 2020. All for one minor possession charge in 2014 that was dismissed. It expired at the end of May 2025. My 2020-2025 waiver was approved in less than 6 weeks, and I didn't realize things had changed so much.

@J Rogers If what you're saying is true why aren't they denying every single waver or at least denying more than they are approving? Or why are they increasing 1 year waivers (from the Biden administration) to 5 year waivers? Like your waiver you just posted right now. Certainly they have the power and prerogative to deny any waiver they want and by what you just said, they despise Canada? They could deny every single waiver with zero recourse, or certainly would not be increasing waiver times that were approved under more lenient administrations. Why not just eliminate waivers altogether?

They are doing it DELIBERATELY. I have a friend who works for Homeland Security in Hawaii. We used to do MMA together when he worked at Pearson Airport.

They are being told to scrutinize and double check EVERYTHING. They are encouraging SLOW. I can also tell by the application numbers and the fact I probably do more waivers than anyone in Canada, that there is NO backlog. The truth is they don't realize this but they are hurting themselves with this "isolationism". They are so used to the narrative that EVERYONE wants to LIVE there, that they think every waiver is a person who just wants to sponge off of them. They have NO clue.

Canada has tarriffs and are being threatened with "annexation". Russia has not a SINGLE tarriff. When Putin met Trump in Alaska, Russian media BRAGGED about how Trump was wrapped around Putins finger, and they were eventually going to return Alaska to them.

You have to stop thinking like "America likes us". Democrats like us. Republicans do not, and they HATE our free healthcare, and lack of guns.

During covid I was doing waivers and there were slightly fewer waivers than are in the line-up now. I got waivers in less than a month, easy. During the height of covid.....5 days. before the fee increase, 90 days or less was NORMAL 120 days was a huge issue.

So why the delay? They don;t actually WANT you in the United States. They will allow it....reluctantly.
