Because MANY people log on here to see timelines, not discussions, lets keep THIS thread ONLY for timelines. Then people don;t have to sift through to find out how long they are taking. I was trying to amend the old one but it got deleted, so I saved the last page, and added a bit to it. My apologies if you were looking for old info. As for the timeline......when the fees went up the backlog slowed these applications down. That backlog is GONE. They could get every application they have done by Thanksgiving if they want. They do NOT want then done quickly. If this seems like "why would they do that?" then you aren't paying attention. Notice Canada has tariffs for made up reasons, and we have been threatened by Annexation. Notice Russia has not a SINGLE TARIFF. Notice Trump met with Putin in Alaska and got embarrassed. And STILL his "friends" have tariffs and the Russians.....nothing.
@willibill it appears if this is your first waiver it will probably take 10-11 months. If this isn’t your first waiver it will take approx 6-8 months.

Received a 5 year. Had a 1 year first and now this was second application. This was so much faster than my first one.
September Letter
1998-Had and H1 visa from India, tried to get asylum, and was refused in 2006. Came to Canada. Technically was deported.
The "extra info" was because he did have a "charge" that was withdrawn in 2025 so we had to give court and additional info.

2006-2015 11 convictions, mostly assaults and minor thefts. An aggravated assault and possession of stolen property as well.
2 waivers, both for 1 year, hard to say if its a surprise, I thought maybe a 2 year but not in this case apparently.

The second guy had a conditional discharge in 2001 for possession of narcotics. 1st application.

2 waivers for a Youth Record that are both 1 year only is not a great result. (you should be on the cusp of a September Letter, not a 1 year waiver)
Revisit some aspects of the waiver, If you are submitting the same things, you will keep getting the same result. The Personal letter is a HUGE part of the application, as is rehabilitation.
"easy" is great, but $1100USD is $2200USD, and if all you got it 2 years worth of us, I would argue that you are "overpaying". Do not do the same application again, do it better.
I have a couple of clients who also got 1 year waivers twice, but they have SERIOUS adult records, with not a ton of time since. (I don't know your exact circumstances) Its rare to get the same result, at worst they usually get at least a 2 year waiver after the first 1 year. Youth convictions are not the same as adult.
So re-examine the application, and if you get another 1 year waiver, I would say that you actually paid MORE than for example, one of my clients who probably would be on a 5 year waiver by now. (bang for your bucks is how I judge the results)
When a person gets a 1 year waiver (much more common now under Trump) I try and change as much as possible. The adjudicator is never impressed when you submit the exact same application, and just assume they will give you a different result. Especially now. They have been DIRECTED to give all waiver applications EXTRA scrutiny which is why they are so slow. They have VERY few waivers in the pipeline, (I can tell by the application numbers) yet they continue to do them as slowly as possible.
You were also obviously in the faster line-up, but that is luck, your next application MAY take longer, so keep that in mind. Not all re-applications ended up in this line-up, I would actually say the majority of applications are in the longer line-up.
@J Rogers I’ve been following your timeline since my first waiver! It’s been really helpful and honestly really accurate!
I got my second one year waiver today, I applied for it back in February. Original charges are youth trafficking charges, I tried to cross the border 4 years after the incident and told them the truth about my record and was denied.
Just wanted to say thanks for keeping this up, I’ve also applied by myself both times as it’s a very easy process and does not need any “special person” to make it go any faster.

This is a great example of what the US has become.
This client got a September Letter in 2024. The first time he tried to use it, the Homeland Security guy at Thousand Islands basically said "I don't think they should have given you this" and revoked it.
He called me and I told him to go to Buffalo and ask if he needed to re-apply. The Rainbow Bridge guys told him that they guy at Thousand Islands fully revoked it.
He was a misrepresentation in 2001 because he used fake ID while a visitor in the US to try and get a Social Security number. But he was caught before it happened.
I was very happy for him when he got the September Letter, and obviously he thought the Thousand Island guy was being racist when he refused to let him enter (client was born in Pakistan) He said the officer asked him insulting questions and actually accused him of creating the September Letter himself.
Lets assume the officer was "correct" and he should not have gotten the September Letter. They give him a waiver for 6 months only?
6 month waiver.
