Handing in Waivers -Quarantine and timelines - Post here

J Rogersposted 3 years ago

Post real application stories here. Not "A guy told me" or "a few of my clients" but specific client experiences so others can see accurately what is happening.

There are rare exceptions, but whether you file a waiver, or a waiver AND an I-212 you simply get a waiver in return. That's why I tell clients to wait. Its an extra $930USD for the exact same waiver.

Sorry, that was meant for the response below

Sorry June 14th, not 16th.

I just got an update that says "my case is pending further review by the ARO"... can anyone shed light on what this means pls?

@TPH2
@BM

I do not think this is the new normal. I think the 85-90 day window is probably more likely, but also I think as I speculated that this is only temporary.

1. Many Government employees take their vacation in July in the US.
2. Tons of applications all at one time because people thought they would get it in time for Summer
3. Take me for example. I am getting new waivers, waivers that expired 5 years ago, waivers that expired just before or during the pandemic. This is a perfect storm of people I would not normally have, and I am one company.

Don't get discouraged, the timeline will shrink again.

J Rogers replied 2 years ago   #249

That is terribly discouraging. 100+ days for a renewal is wild. You’d think (especially with electronic submission) this kind of review would take all of 20 minutes. Oh well.

BM replied 2 years ago   #248

If I can calculated this one correctly, It is a 101 days. This is a re-application, Fraud over $5000 from 2001. He had a 5 year waiver before as well.

@candra1 I'm sorry that you missed your event. I too am losing hope on attending my family reunion this coming weekend. Such a bummer!

Certified82 replied 2 years ago   #246

@J Rogers that's good I'm glad they working on may... it sucks that I missed my family party event 😞 😕.

candra1 replied 2 years ago   #245

5 year Waiver granted August 1. He was a re-application who has an old minor record. Looks like approx 88 days if my math isn't wrong.

@JohnB2 that's fair. For some reason they did not require my sample. Moving forward today is the 80th day since submitting. Still waiting for decision from ARO.

Certified82 replied 2 years ago   #243

@Certified82 I believe its for all applications. It was a new application for us but I believe a renewal is actually a new application anyway. We got our info from multiple CBP agents at a number of different ports that I called beforehand.

JohnB2 replied 2 years ago   #242

@JohnB2 is this for new applications? This was my 2nd waiver and done through e-safe. I even overheard them saying they dont need my DNA. This was done on May 10th

Certified82 replied 2 years ago   #241

@Certified82 They require a DNA swab for all applications at the border. That was a policy change a few months ago.

They do not test for drugs using the swab.

JohnB2 replied 2 years ago   #240

@Magnus, they requested my DNA when I submitted my application at the border so, I believe for some cases, they require DNA test.

June04waiver replied 2 years ago   #239

@Magnus when I suited on May 10 they did not require my DNA.

Certified82 replied 2 years ago   #238

Does anybody know if they are still requesting DNA samples at the border when they do your biometrics?

Magnus replied 2 years ago   #237

@J Rogers that's good which means they working on may Now it will be my turn soon

candra1 replied 2 years ago   #236

Waiver granted yesterday. Re-application, 5 years. 84 days from being at the border.

This is a much better thread for Waiver timelines, in my opinion. It shows timelines from around May 2021 to the present.

Here are some results that end in July. I have a couple after this but seem to have misplaced them. May last one was 82 days from the point of "Submitted to ARO" but that is not on here.

Finally I got my first waiver (5yrs) last week. I want to thank @J Rogers immensely. I can attest to he his expertise and service regarding pardons and waivers. I have had a bad experience with a well known Lawyer in the past who charged me a bomb and then just asked a junior associate to work on my case who knew very less about waivers other than basically fill the application.

AT replied 2 years ago   #233

@Magnus

I think probably volume as more applications are processed but its hard to know for sure.

J Rogers replied 2 years ago   #232

@J Rogers
Why do you think the timeline has increased so dramatically? More volume, less staff or something else? More rigorous adjudication perhaps?
