Unemployment hit you hard it seems. Too much time on your hands and the devil finds work.

Bless your heart...

Previously overstayed - was on automatic 10 year ban. Travelled to US hundreds of times with waivers during 10 year ban. Last year 10 year ban was over and have been traveling US without waivers and without any issues at the border as it is not required anymore. Thinking about getting nexus but little nervous as the eligibility criteria says no previous immigration violations. I have asked few CBP officers and they think it shouldn’t be an issue but no one can vouch for sure. Anyone successfully applied nexus with previous overstay history.? I just don’t want to apply if it is not worth it but man seeing those nexus line move faster while waiting on general line just too much. I will hang up and listen.

@Adelaide, 6 month waivers are rare. I have only seen a couple, and in both cases, I thought the client would not even get a waiver...so yes, it can be expensive, but my clients were happy to at least be approved and build up to a 5 year, which happened in both cases eventually..

@Adelaide

The system is not perfect and with the current administration it's getting worse.

It's very unusual to be issued a six month waiver but not uncommon as first waivers are usually six months especially if the offence occurred before 5 years or close to the 5 year mark. One year waivers are granted after six years and then after decades, 5 year waivers. This however is not the norm. Some people get 5 year waivers right off the bat. It depends on who is processing your file in Virginia.

#1905 - @Lucky

What did you need the waiver for? (what offense)

It seems unfortunate that you'd only get a 6 month waiver since if you do the currency conversion ($585 USD)on the cost of the waiver it's approaching $800 CDN (for just the application) on top of all the other fees for fingerprinting, etc. That seems like a lot of money for just 6 months of time. It's almost extra punitive in a way.

Adelaide replied 5 years ago   #1878

@Lucky, where did you hand the waiver in?

John Rogers replied 5 years ago   #1877

@1906 John, as you know, my clients are still waiting 4 - 6 months from the time they deliver paperwork to Port of Entry. Makes no difference if first time waiver or a renewal.

Michelle replied 5 years ago   #1876

@Lucky that is very unusual, both the length of time and the time it was granted for.

Is anyone else finding waivers are going over 3 months?

John Rogers replied 5 years ago   #1875

Just an update.took me 4 month to get my first waiver but they issued it only for 6 months.but better than nothing.
Will apply again a month before the current one expires.

Lucky replied 5 years ago   #1874

I would like to say that with current administration, waivers are hard to get.

Everyday is a new learning curve for me. I know I have offended many of you. I'm just trying to make an honest living because I don't have a dime. I don't know a lot about waivers but I can always help. I am learning every day.

I forgot my password so I'm using a different user name.

I think I'm going to give up the waiver business. I'm sorry for anyone I may have offended or ripped off that includes Bombazinga1.

Anyways, I realize now that Bombazinga may have been right after all.

@Michelle

I don't think I know of anyone that will go on a rampage like that.

John Rogers must of angered a client of his and the individual went nuts.

@1898 I agree with Ken...so here is some useful information regarding First Nations Individuals and the Jay Treaty Act.

@1897 HatsBootsHatsBoots, "apparently your friend joined this at your request.""They stated this earlier in comments."

Also, for anyone out there who has been dealing with John, Ken, myself or Adelaide. If you see a dot "." at the end of our first name, it is not us writing comments..it is someone using our name.

Michelle replied 5 years ago   #1868

I think the best way to get rid of these challenged individuals is to just ignore them and continue with discussing border-crossing issues. They are simply attention-seeking INCELS that did not get enough mummy milk growing up and now try to get attention wherever they can. There is a reason why CBP has the power to deny entry to the undesirables. Btw Mr.Bombastic may be writing in from London Ontario.
