Moving to USA?

Lookingtomoveposted 3 months ago

It’s no longer safe for Jews in Canada under this government. Most of us are seeking exit plans.

Am I correct in presuming I can’t move to the States with a criminal record? Is there anyway or process to be done? I got my record expunged where my crime occurred (drugs, Indiana) but I still need a waiver when I visit.

Replies (recent first):

If Trump and Israel are doing nothing wrong....then why this???

BREAKING: White House MELTDOWN! Trump demands immunity from the International Criminal Court — and threatens sanctions if they don’t deliver.
In a move that screams guilty conscience, the Trump White House has just issued a threat straight out of a mob movie: promise not to prosecute Donald Trump, or we’ll sanction the International Criminal Court.

Yes, you read that right. The administration is openly pressuring the world’s top war-crimes tribunal to pledge it will never investigate the president, the vice president, or even the secretary of war — not now, not in 2029, not ever.

According to Reuters, Trump officials told the ICC to stand down immediately and drop all ongoing investigations, including probes into U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Israel’s leadership over the war in Gaza. If they don’t? The administration is threatening to slap sanctions not just on ICC officials but on the court itself, effectively trying to kneecap the world’s primary venue for prosecuting atrocities.

For a president who loves to rant about “law and order,” Trump suddenly seems terrified of… checks notes… law and order.
This isn’t just an unprecedented flex — it’s a full-blown assault on international justice. The U.S. never signed the 2002 Rome Statute that created the ICC, but no American president has ever attempted to bully the court into giving them lifetime immunity. This is banana-republic behavior from a White House desperate to put Trump above the reach of global accountability.

And the reason? One Trump official spelled it out with stunning honesty: There’s “growing concern that in 2029 the ICC will turn its attention to the president.”
In other words: Trump fears he’ll one day face investigations for his actions — and he’s trying to stop that future before it arrives.
The administration’s message is crystal clear: prosecute Trump and face retaliation from the world’s largest superpower. Drop the cases, or else.
But here’s the truth that Trump can’t sanction away: if you demand immunity in advance, people will wonder what crimes you’re afraid you’ll be charged with. And judging by this tantrum, Trump’s list must be a long one.

Welcome to the latest chapter in American democracy’s ongoing stress test — where the president is no longer hiding his desperation to escape accountability, he’s threatening the global justice system to make it happen.

Hamas cannot "start a war", they are a terrorist organization. Like Al-Qaeda (the leader that Trump welcomed at the White House)

They carried out a terrible act of terrorism, which killed innocent Israelis and some were also kidnapped and even raped. Just under 2200 people were victims.

Isreal's response? Killed over 10 times the amount of Palestinians, probably 500- 1 thousand Hamas. Destroy all of Gaza. Home to 2 million people.

Kill reporters covering it. Attack ANYONE who criticizes their response, and call them "anti-semetic". I think that is too much. Children should not pay. EVER.

Which means, I must be "anti-christian" because I also criticize Trump and the GOP.

See how stupid you sound? And the way you are so cowardly, throwing accusations while hiding your identity.

I don;t hide mine, because I am not afraid to speak out, against children being killed, and I, unlike the poster don;t think being Jewish makes you more special than being Palestinian. Israel has weapons and the United States support, so they can act like Nazis with impunity. PERIOD. Russia is doing the same thing.

If Israel was doing "nothing wrong" they would not target and kill reporters, and stop aid convoys with a flimsy excuse.

"I would rather let children starve than "maybe some aid is stolen by Hamas" " is the talk of a war criminal. Sadly, the poster forgets that in WW2 no one wanted to help the Jews despite the fact they were terrorized by the Nazis. Now Israel is basically proving its POWER that corrupts. Not the people.

J Rogers replied 2 months ago   #14

@J Rogers don’t want dead civilians, then don’t start a war that you can’t win. 3 times as many were killed in the bombings of Dresden to stop the Nazis.

But why are you bringing up Israel? Why is anyone protesting anything Israel in Jewish neighborhoods?

If being anti Israel isn’t antisemetic then why are they in Jewish neighborhoods and terrorizing Jewish senior homes?

Go protest in front of an embassy or consulate like the losses you are. Leave the Jews alone!

@Lookingtomove

Its not acceptable for people to vandalize things because they are are Jewish. Its wrong, and illegal. The police set up a COMMAND POST in Jewish neighbourhoods to help prevent this. Obviously, I want the people caught and prosecuted.

Now please say a single thing about all the dead children Israel has killed. Dead children are not "better" than vandalism. Israel has also killed journalists, and attacked boats carrying people who are LEGAL PROTESTERS.

Jewish people should not be held responsible for the war crimes of Israel. That is wrong. Israel should instead be banned from all sports, not get a single cent in support, and have their arms shipments cut off. They cannot commit war crimes with impunity.

People can and should protest. Including Jewish people who feel Canada should do more than protect them. But crying about vandalism and wanting to leave Canada, while children are killed in Gaza, is the whiniest thing ever.

I don't like dead children. But I also don't blame Canadians of Jewish decent for that. Blaming Palestinians for Hamas and making them RESPONSIBLE, and making that an excuse to kill civilians.....that is way worse than ANY vandalism. Israel and the US are both the same as Russia now. Killing civilians, attacking the free press, and all 3 should be held accountable. So I guess that makes me "anti-christian" and "anti-russian orthodox too".

Or is Israel immune from criticism because "that's anti-sematic"? Because that seems to be your whiny position. And you whine like a little bitch and you need to know that. Too bad your too much of a coward to whine to my face so you stay anonymous.

Tonight all of the mezuzas at 6250 Bathurst Street (TSHC) have been torn off their hinges. Every single one. Thankfully, just like John Rogers, these Pro-palestine supporters are only critical of Israel and NOT antisemitic. Let's be grateful their rights are not suppressed and will continue to protest in Jewish neighbourhoods and target Jewish Senior citizens homes - the way their rights and freedoms were intended!

Lookingtomove replied 2 months ago   #11

Israel and the United States are attacking the "Free Press", because THEY hold them accountable. Both Governments are committing acts they KNOW are illegal. And they do not want to be held to account. The Israeli PM is also trying to have his corruption charges quashed, using the WAR as an excuse.

Netanyahu and Trump are clearly both criminally corrupt. They make the people they "serve", less safe through their actions.

Since this thread is about ho w"unsafe Canada is" for certain people, I think its time to look how UNDEMOCRATIC Israel is becoming.

Article below.

Entering election year, Netanyahu’s government targets Israel’s free press

What began as Israel’s leader cold-shouldering the mainstream media is becoming a more widespread assault on the country’s freedom of the press.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not granted an interview to Israel’s three main broadcasters in over four years. He’s accused them of “brainwashing,” claimed they assist Israel’s enemies and personally gone after journalists who criticize him.

Now, that longstanding tension is evolving into something more aggressive.: On Monday, Netanyahu’s coalition will establish a special parliamentary committee to advance legislation that would replace Israel’s independent media regulators with political appointees. The change will give the government sweeping authority to fine and sanction news outlets – a move critics warn could permanently reshape the country’s media environment.
The bill, sponsored by Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, a Netanyahu loyalist, passed its first reading last month after it was introduced in May. The government says its goal is to open the market, promote competition, remove outdated regulatory barriers and modernize Israel’s media laws for the digital era.
Israeli networks, however, have warned the proposed reform will expand political influence and erode editorial independence. In an unprecedented move, the rival networks created a joint emergency forum in August 2023 to oppose the government’s plans, which they dub a “hostile takeover” of the media market.
An official in the forum told CNN, “What we’re seeing is an attempted power grab on the eve on an election. The clear objective is to subdue the free press and silence criticism before Israelis go to the polls.”

‘True freedom of expression’
The media regulation bill is part of a broader set of restrictions and measures taken against freedom of the press in Israel. Earlier this year, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) dropped Israel’s ranking to 112 out of 180 countries in the World Press Freedom Index. “Disinformation campaigns and repressive laws have multiplied in Israel and pressure on Israeli journalists has intensified,” RSF said.
A bill originally aimed at banning Qatar-based Al-Jazeera is currently being expanded to empower the government to shutter certain foreign outlets without court oversight in the name of “national security.” Another bill would privatize Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan 11.
Defence Minister Israel Katz recently announced he will close Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) next year. While some have questioned the existence of a military-run broadcaster in a democracy, the timing aligns with the government’s wider moves to consolidate control over the media sphere.
And all of this is unfolding as Israel has barred foreign journalists from independently entering Gaza since the start of the war more than two years ago. Reporters Without Borders said the ban constitutes “an unprecedented violation of press freedom and the public’s right to reliable, independent, and pluralistic media reporting.”

The media regulation bill has already faced criticism from the national regulatory agency, the Finance and Justice ministries, the Knesset’s own legal advisers and the attorney general. “The proposal creates increased risks to Israel’s free media,” Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara wrote in a legal opinion submitted to the government in September, raising “a real concern about commercial and political influence and involvement in the work of media organizations in general and in news broadcasts in particular.”

Despite legal objections from both the government’s legal adviser and the Knesset’s legal counsel, Karhi is pressing ahead. The communications minister, who accused the press of “weakening Israel internally” in a Knesset speech in November and claimed it enabled the Hamas-led October 7 attacks, argued in that the reform will create “true freedom of expression – not that of disgruntled people with microphones.”

As Netanyahu’s government pushes to constrain and boycott critical reporting, it has simultaneously promoted pro-Netanyahu Channel 14 – often called Israel’s Fox News – with regulatory benefits, including reduced distribution fees, and various reliefs allowing it to operate with fewer restrictions than other commercial channels.

Tehilla Shwartz Altshuler, a senior fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute, said, “In the past two years, the Israeli government has launched a coordinated political, regulatory and rhetorical campaign to weaken the media.”
“Coalition ministers and senior politicians routinely wage public assaults on journalists, blaming the media for national failures such as the events of October 7, while violent harassment of reporters has escalated”.

‘They want us to be afraid’
The pressure isn’t only institutional. Individual journalists known for critical coverage of Netanyahu and his government endure escalating threats and intimidation, much of it with tacit or explicit backing from members of Netanyahu’s party and far-right coalition partners like National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Guy Peleg, Channel 12’s senior legal affairs correspondent, has faced protests outside his home, threatening messages and billboard campaigns calling for his imprisonment.

The campaign against Peleg, who regularly covers Netanyahu’s ongoing corruption trial, isn’t new. During the 2019 election, his face appeared on Likud billboard adds alongside three other critical journalists under the slogan “They won’t decide”.
The attacks intensified after Peleg exposed the alleged abuse of a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman detention facility – an affair which recently led to the resignation of the IDF’s top military lawyer.

“They want us to be afraid,” Peleg said on Channel 12’s flagship program, Ulpan Shishi. “They want us to go with security guards. What we have to say is that we will not give up and we will not be afraid and will continue doing our jobs.”
Right-wing activist Mordechai David, known for confronting journalists and opposition figures, repeatedly harassed Peleg, who eventually obtained a court-issued restraining order requiring David to stay at least two meters away.
Yet David has been welcomed by key coalition figures. Ben-Gvir hosted him in his Knesset office, praising his protests as “excellent” and a “democratic mission.” Tzvika Foghel, of Ben Gvir’s far-right wing Otzma Yehudit party, invited him to a Knesset committee hearing on journalist harassment, despite another restraining order – from opposition lawmaker Gilad Kariv.

“The government embraces these people,” Peleg told CNN. “They are honored guests at the Knesset committees. We’re not talking about a few crazies who wrote a comment or sent a hateful message. We’re talking about a group that the government embraces, strengthens in many ways, thanks, and tells them to keep going.”

Peleg said the war against the media has several arms.
“One is through legislation in the parliament, another is through the defense minister and the army radio and a third arm sends various fringe figures to run a campaign - both online and through harassment - which is essentially kind of terror,” he said. “It’s all part of one unified system”.
Netanyahu’s current political standing is already intertwined with the media. His media maneuvering eventually led to criminal investigations and indictments, as prosecutors allege he traded regulatory benefits for positive news coverage. The Israeli prime minister is now formally seeking a pardon from Israeli President Isaac Herzog in his long-running corruption trial while refusing to acknowledge any wrongdoing.
The new mechanism Netanyahu’s government now seeks to legalize would formalize similar arrangements, which critics say would allow government ministers to reward friendly outlets and penalize critical ones.

The timing of the legislative push is significant. The next elections in Israel are scheduled for October 2026, unless Netanyahu’s coalition collapses before then. In either scenario, Israel is in an election year, where independent journalism is crucial for democratic accountability.
“As Israel enters an election year, its news organizations face unprecedented political pressure, regulatory threats, and physical intimidation,” Altshuler told CNN, “Leaving the public sphere more vulnerable than ever to influence, capture, and the erosion of democratic oversight.”

BREAKING:
HUZZAH! Democratic Sen. Van Hollen secures the release of an American teen from Israeli prison after being held for NINE MONTHS without charge when Donald Trump REFUSED to help!

Fifteen-year-old Florida teen Mohammed Ibrahim was visiting family near Ramallah in the West Bank when he was kidnapped by the IDF and thrown in prison on unsubstantiated and uncharged allegations of “rock throwing,” where he contracted a skin infection and lost significant amounts of weight due to mistreatment.

“Words can’t describe the immense relief we have as a family right now, to have Mohammed in his parents’ arms,” Mohammed’s uncle Zeyad Kadur said in a statement. “We couldn’t believe Mohammed was free until his parents wrapped their arms around him and felt him safe.”
For nine months, his family begged and pleaded with the White House to try to get him out, to no response. Nor did his Senators, Republicans Rick Scott and Ashley Moody.

Sen. Van Hollen took matters into his own hands and helped spearhead a public pressure campaign that included a signed letter from 27 lawmakers until finally Ibrahim was released — no thanks to Trump, who has made it very clear that he doesn’t care about brown Americans.
Thank you, Sen. Van Hollen! At least some of our leaders still care about ALL Americans!

In Israel, if you throw rocks....you go to prison. How many other "rock throwers" are in prison there? But please don't protest, it makes you an "anti-semite".

Remember, this was an AMERICAN. Weird. I thought Israel was a democracy?

@lookingtomove

You need to decide which boogyman I vote for. "your boy Carney" although I have never mentioned him ONCE. And I "vote for NDP" although I have never voted for NDP.

The protesters are doing what they are LEGALLY allowed to do. You want to repress their rights? Like Israel does to the Palestinians? Killing journalists? How does that make them better than the Saudis? No bone saw I guess. But killing reporters indicates a country fears the truth.

I don't support right wing racists/anti-semites. Isreal is happy with racists....if they like Israel. You clearly vote conservative, a party that is still denying "residential schools are all bad".

Most of the Jewish people in Canada are hard working and good people. So are most muslims. None of them deserve to feel unsafe.

If Canada was killing people in retaliation for a terrorist attack, I would be protesting my own government. The fact you are CHEERLEADING genocide tells me what kind of person YOU are. I will continue to fight to stop ANYONE dying, and that includes people in Israel.

Trump had Fuentes for dinner at his resort. So therefore Trump is bad? I had Trump being bad way before he did that. I mean you seem to be ok with the 26 rapes but not Fuentes. Surprise, Trump said in Charlottesville there were "good people on both sides" but much of that march was deeply anti-semitic. Not a word from you then. Israel will suck up to Republicans, and then whine when they realize they are racist AND anti-semitic.

Having to paint every critisizm of Israel as anti-semetic is where you show your true colors. I piss all over Trump on this board constantly, but I am not "anti-christian". Or anti-USA. Just principled.

J Rogers replied 3 months ago   #7

1. you said yourself anti-israel is not anti-semitic so if thats the case why are they protesting in jewish neighbourhoods instead of going to city hall, israeli embassy, us consulate? literally anywhere else? They are targeting jewish neighbourhoods that have zero to do with Israel. Why go to jewish neighbourhoods if its only Israel they are critical of? Nothing to say about that??

2. and when i say they i mean people of a country that elected a terrorist group who says to kill all the jews IN THEIR CHARTER. the same country that was recognized by your boy Carney who said he would only recognize them under CERTAIN CONDITIONS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN MET. why did he recognize palestine when he said only if hamas isnt in power??? Nothing to say about that?

3. Don't want your people to die? Don't start a war. Gaza looks no different than Berlin or Dresden where 75,000 civilians were killed in order to stop the nazis.

4. Look up article 7 of Hamas charter, John. this is the government that has been rewarded by Canada. You yapping about Trump all you want about his allegations but silent about this tells me everything we need to know about you.

Antisemitism is up a staggering 470% year over year in Canada but because no jews were physically murdered here yet everything is cool??? I guess "Man who threatened to plant a bomb in ‘every synagogue in Toronto’ sentenced to 60 days house arrest" is fine by you and your NDP friends who you admitted you would vote for. In America if you threaten to kill a group of people for their religion you go to jail.

https://thecjn.ca/news/man-who-threatened-to-plant-a-bomb-in-every-synagogue-in-toronto-sentenced-to-house-arrest/

Lastly for you to deny what a vulnerable minority is feeling is shameful yet not surprising. You're an awful person and right beside the Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes of the world, just on the other side of the horse shoe.

lookingtomove replied 3 months ago   #6

@Lookingtomove

Wait, are you saying Palestinians are not killing you with artillery or destroying your homes or bombing your hospitals? That is what Israel did in Gaza. And Hamas is a a terrorist organization. 100%. Israel is not. So why are they killing more people than the terrorists?

Be happy it does not apply to you.

The United States has much more anti-Semitism than Canada. They are also grabbing green card holders arbitrarily, through ICE. ICE is the new Gestapo.

So now explain why you would leave "people scaring my kids" for people who might GRAB you and your kids?

I will admit Canada is not safe for Jews when you show me how many Jews have been killed in hate crimes in Canada? If its ZERO, that doesn't mean you should not be concerned. No one should FEEL unsafe. But it could also mean your kids are safe, but you just feel like people cannot PROTEST what they feel is wrong near a community where a lot of Jewish people live.

But remember some of these Palestinians have had family KILLED. And they are reacting emotionally. When Israel had a terrorist attack on October 6th, Israel also responded emotionally. (and rightly so, many were killed and kidnapped) The families of these people would have every right to protest too.

Your post is a political post. Canada protects everyone. The police have ANNOUNCED extra police protection for Jewish areas of Toronto in response to increasing tensions. I dare you to show us ANY OTHER group that has gotten this treatment? And your complaining about Canada?

More Muslims have been killed in hate crimes than Jews in the last 5 years. And the leader of the country you want to flee to has 26 allegations of sexual assault, 34 felony counts, and hates immigrants. (which you would be if you went)

Sounds like your safer here, but you simply wanted to post a "Canada sucks" post because you feel like this would make a political point. Just like when I post a political post, I am making a point. But lets stop pretending this is about safety. They average a school shooting a DAY in the USA, so you are putting your kids at risk, just by enrolling them in SCHOOL.

You would have to apply under sponsorship, and then you would have to file an extra I-601 on top of the regular application.

Your children should be safe. So should Palestinian children, and ANY children. Unfortunately, one of us seems to care about ALL children, and one seems to care only about SOME children.

J Rogers replied 3 months ago   #5

1. There are 2 billion Muslim’s in the world. There are 15 million Jews. Way to stand up for Canadas most vulnerable population there bud.

2. Are Jews going through Muslim neighborhoods targeting Muslims? Because they are doing that to us.

3. Antisemitism is up 470% in Canada year over year. Source globe and mail. 31% of Jewish doctors are thinking about leaving here. Source globe and mail.

4. A Muslim man was just given 60 days house arrest for saying he wants to bomb every single synogogue in the city.

Not sure why you’re bringing up Israel. Israel has nothing to do with being Jewish. I’m saying as a Jew it’s no longer safe here. Pretty much directly because of people like you who just dismissed my feelings and the hate we endure daily.

You’re a disgusting awful person that would vote for the NDP and Yves Engler who screams about Jewish supremacy.

Lookingtomove replied 3 months ago   #4

You just wrote a lot of words that don’t apply to me. The Palestinians are going through my neighborhood at Bathurst and Sheppard scaring my kids. It’s not safe for Jews here. 31% of Jewish doctors are planning on leaving Canada for a specific reason that you’re glibly ignoring.

Carney said he would recognize Palestine only under specific conditions like Hamas no longer being in power. You know Hamas? Whose charter literally says to eliminate all Jews. That’s the government of the country your PM just recognized.

I ask again, am I screwed? Can I move to the states or no because of my record?

Lookingtomove replied 3 months ago   #3

Here is the situation in the United States.

So show me Canada is LESS safe if you do feel Jews are under attack.

https://www.cnn.com/2025/11/26/us/mamdani-israel-antisemitism-protest

New York

A pro-Palestinian protest outside a New York City synagogue last week has sparked accusations of antisemitism and underscored the balancing act Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani faces on Israel.

The debate stems from a November 19 event at Park East Synagogue, a modern orthodox congregation on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The synagogue hosted an event for Nefesh B’Nefesh, a nonprofit that works to facilitate and support North American Jews moving to Israel.

The group Palestinian Assembly for Liberation-AWDA NY/NJ organized a protest at the synagogue in opposition. “No settlers on stolen land,” the group wrote in a flyer. “Protest the settler recruiting fair.”

Dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered wearing keffiyehs and waving Palestinian flags just steps outside of the synagogue. The group chanted slogans including “Death to the IDF,” or Israel Defense Forces, and “globalize the intifada,” an Arabic term for rebellion and a reference to Palestinian uprisings around the turn of the century.

J Rogers replied 3 months ago   #2

Maybe Trump will give you asylum like he did with the white South Africans. Yes, his people had to use fake information, and yes, they rewarded people for being white, wealthy and for years of Apartheid, but they DID get Green Cards.

In the United States there is a HUGE rift right now between Republicans/Maga that support Israel (Trump took 230 million from AIPAC, the Israel lobby group) But Nick Fuentes and Tucker Carlson seem to be leading the "America First" movement of MAGA which is actively trying to cut Israel off.

Israel is in bed with the most racist President in the last 100 years. They have hurt their standing on the world stage by electing a very corrupt PM, their response to the October 6th terrorist attack, and they have been using their influence on Trump to "settle scores" militarily.

The problem is we ALL hate Trump. Israel has not picked a winner, they have picked a wannabe Nazi. And he is going to get impeached in the mid terms.

In Canada, we don't like dead children. When Israel was attacked, no one wouldn't have helped. Now we see the response and most of us see

-corrupt Israeli PM
-kissing Trumps ass
-civilians being targeted as well as infrastructure
-Israel has the POWER, there the RESPONSIBILITY to be compassionate.

Muslims in Canada were run down on the sidewalk in London. Yet I don't see "Muslims aren't safe in Canada" because we understand this is not how the public at large feels, despite Post Media whipping up genuine hate against that group.

Anti-Israel is not anti Jewish. Many people in Israel do not support the track Israel is on. Canada is Anti Trump yet no one says we are "anti-christian".

There have been hate related attacks on places of worship,(and schools) yes, but this is also not the same as Jews being run down on the sidewalk because they are Jewish. This happened to other groups.

Canadian Jews who value ALL life will find Canadians are 100% supportive of them, and we should be. No one feels that Israel should live in fear. They have a right to survive and protect themselves.

We never forgot what happened because Hitler got too much power. But Trump is attempting to do something similar, and yet Israel seems (their PM at least) to be fine when Palestinians suffer. This is what Canadians CANNOT endorse.

This opposition has NOTHING to do with the Jewish religion. This has to do with Israels actions.
