Truck Drivers - beware! Cautionary tale

J Rogersposted 2 months ago

I have a client, truck driver, who was just issued a 5 year waiver. He is also in the process of a Green Card application (he married an American)

He took a load of goods from point A to point B in the United States, which is against the rules.

The next time he travelled across the border, they knew EVERYTHING. They told him that cameras had picked him up, they had all the information.

No waiver, no crossing the border, no green card.

Recently this has happened to 2 other clients. (1 became a client because of this, the other HAD a waiver already)

I am not sure WHAT they can see, or how pervasive the surveillance is, but its clear that if you are a Truck Driver, STICK to the rules. Do not take "extra jobs", you are not permitted to "work" in the US, even if its simply deliveries within the same State.

This poor guy will now have to wait for at least 3 years to have a shot at another waiver.

Replies (recent first):

He should know that is clearly against the law. He can take a load into USA from Canada or from USA to Canada. HE CANNOT DELIVER WITHIN THE USA FROM ANOTHER POINT IN USA.
