Following statement may be included for certain waivers (with SA).
Pursuant to the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) subject may be required to register with local law enforcement while in the United States.
CBP officer @YVR told me that waiver can be revoked if these guidelines are not followed. I went to register but was told it is NOT required for stay less than 7 days/year for that specific state.
Is there any one with experience of registering (or not registering) as per above? How easy (or painful) is the process? Was anyone able to get away without registering (when it is required)? Not quite sure if CBP and Sex Offender Registry programs are linked together.
I have clients who have ignored it, and a couple who have registered.
One said it was a pain, and they made him do paperwork, fingerprints, it was terrible.
Another said they barely cared.
It depends on the police department it seems.
Remember, this isn't in the last couple of months. I don't know how it is under Trump.
