Representation by Canadian Lawyer?

BobMcBobersonposted 1 year ago

Does anyone know if a Canadian lawyer can formally represent someone in a US Waiver i-192 application via a G-28i form? I understand that a non-US lawyer "may represent parties in matters before DHS, provided that he or she represents persons only in matters outside the geographical confines of the United States," but it is unclear whether a US Waiver Application falls into this category and the US authorities have been most unhelpful.

Thanks, everyone!

Any lawyer can represent a client on eSAFE. But NEVER use a lawyer for a waiver. Use someone who is highly recommended, who does a lot of waivers through eSAFE. Make sure they are accredited by the RCMP as well.

Lawyers are great and appropriate for certain things. I have yet to meet a lawyer who does a high volume of waivers and this is a key point. A law degree does NOTHING to help you file a waiver. It does usually make the person feel entitled to charge a much higher fee.
