RCMP Accreditation

Michelleposted 4 years ago

Hi All, sorry I have not been on here much, but was preparing for my 5 year renewal site accreditation, which was yesterday...OMG was it brutal...honestly, if I had not been involved in this for the past 11 years, I don't know if I would do this again. The amount of security required now to have the fingerprint machine is unbelievable; this along with the security measurements in place for files and paperwork is exhausting. Anyway, fingers crossed that I passed....My complaint of the day...LOL..I will advise anyone who is thinking about trying to become an accredited fingerprint location better have a lot of money, security and time...

@Michelle yes we do, but it can be problematic.

We do get requests to go to offices and do "contract security" for example. We have been open reduced hours anyways, so this has been easy to schedule. But when we are a full 6 days a week, it can be tough to actually schedule, because then we are closed for fingerprints at the office that day.

We have had a few instances where before covid we went to someones house who was elderly or in a wheelchair. We have stairs, no elevator. So we try to be accommodating.

We are happy with one machine, even though we have 3 people who can fingerprint here. For fingerprints, we want to be steady but not swamped. We are in an ideal area, Brampton is a fairly big city and obviously full of people that are doing citizenship or PR, or trying to get fingerprints to send back home to other countries.

John..now..I know why he was taking pictures of my filing cabinet locks..lol..

Ur office sounds very similar to mine..I was adjusting my cameras..and 2 shut off..so I will probably lose points on that..

I am glad it is done..

Do u have the mobile accreditation? That is next on my list

@Michelle the guy who did mine said he was "ex-RCMP".

Welcome to the forum Bob3177, we are in Brampton,
96 Kennedy Road South Suite 201
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday 10-4 or Saturday 11-2. Walk in is fine.

For everyone else interested, the "re-accreditation" interview for ME, consisted of
-going through my credit history, line by line
-fingerprints
-asking what websites I go on
-constantly backtracking and re-asking if I was SURE I didn't miss a website, asking about things i know didn't even exist
-employment history
-checking out our office/facility. We have 3 separate rooms/offices (main, mine and fingerprinting) and people being fingerprinted have to have privacy
-making us re-do the locks again on our filing cabinets
-making sure our cameras worked
-checking Facebook and asking about posts I had made

Being accredited to do fingerprints by the RCMP is a rigorous process. Worth it though, because people KNOW you have been carefully vetted.

Michelle, I know they make it seem like "we will let you know" but I am sure you passed.
