Pardon/Record Suspension

NSpringposted 3 months ago

I just wanted to let everyone know that I successfully got my Pardon/Record Suspension yesterday after 4.5 months of waiting! I'm super happy and can now move on with my life. I did it myself and it was super simple. Just wanted to share my timelines!

@NSpring just curious, is your parson document show your charge on it?

@NSpring That is faster than normal for 2 reasons.

1. Sounds like you did the court first and luckily it ended up matching exactly the RCMP check which it SOUNDS like you did second. One of the major problems we get is when we do it in the proper order, (RCMP and then court) sometimes they don't match. Then we have to send out again. Also you went to the court in person, and they obviously did it for you fast, we obviously can't go to every court in person so court documents are slower. Luckily you live within driving distance.
2. When you get the acknowledgment letter, it usually indicates you are in the normal longer line. When you are in the "faster" line they skip the letter and just give you a pardon. Most times these clients take 6-12 months but closer to 12. Sounds like you were in the normal line, but somehow they did it faster. Unless, they sent the letter and still put you in the faster line, which is possible, but you also said it was summary. Sounds like you should have been in the faster line, and they still sent you the acknowledgment letter.

Clients who are willing to drive around and gather documents will always be "faster" as long as the pardon is a fairly easy one.

@Michelle Yes absolutely!

I started everything in May 2023
Court Form took 4-5 days (Barrie)
RCMP Fingerprints took 3 weeks (Location in Vaughan)
Police Checks: Peel Region (2 weeks), York Region (1 week)
Submitted all my paperwork on August 10th and received a letter stating they had my file on September 5th
Received my Approval (I had a summary conviction): Jan 14th, 2024

@NSpring, Congratulations, can you advise the additional timelines that you waited for RCMP results, Local Records Check and Court House. I am assuming that the 4.5 months was for the Parole Board only. Thanks!

Sorry yes it was for a summary conviction.

You should specify that you obviously had a summary convictions (s) because when you have indictable convictions the timeline is much longer. The Parole Board of Canada has 2 lines.

Also, if your conviction was before 2012 you got a Pardon. Convictions after that you get a Record Suspension. Results is exactly the same, no record existing. The record is sealed. It can be revoked if you are ever arrested again.
