J Rogers Renewal Question

JohnB2posted 1 year ago

@ J Rogers,

My GF should be getting her first waiver in about a week give or take a week (hopefully). I'm assuming it may be for 1 year.

My question is regarding when she needs to renew the waiver. I know it's not a renewal per se, but rather a new waiver that happens to be a second waiver. Having said, that, at what point can she apply for the next waiver? Can she apply while the current waiver is still active or does she have to wait until the end date of the first waiver to start an application? My goal is to not have a period of time where she doesn't have an active waiver. Though if we time the next waiver paperwork for the 6 months in the winter we'll have to be outside of the U.S., that would presumably work. Just trying to get my head around next time.

Hopefully within 2 years we will be married which I know changes things.

Replies (recent first):

Got it. That helps. Thank you!

@JohnB2

Well she might be able to use the same fingerprints. They are valid for 15 months.

I would say to just time the submission to when the other waiver ends. There is no consequence if your waiver is too soon or early, other than the new waiver makes the first one useless.

So she gets a waiver date September 15 2022. I would watch the board for timelines, and submit her next one in about June unless its much faster.

Then technically the next one should be around September 15th 2023 and hopefully for longer.

Remember as well, try and add something to the next waiver if you can. "Rehabilitation"? Volunteer somewhere? Re-do the personal letter and make it better for sure.
