I 192 application filed through e safe- biometric? Fees?

Sidposted 3 years ago

Anyone has any idea what will happen if someone filed I 192 through e safe ? Since border is closed , fingerprint is not possible, will you lose money and application will be canceled after 45 days? Can you make any changes to filed application on line??

No updates other than the Canadian Government is saying "unofficially" that they will not even LOOK at opening the border until after US thanksgiving. Nov 26. They are the ones wanting to keep it closed. As you can see, the US is led by an idiot.

Electronic Secured Adjudication Forms Environment (e-SAFE) biometrics processing and collections of Forms I-192 and I-212 are temporarily suspended for non-essential travel

In the interest of minimizing exposure and controlling the spread of the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak, effective March 21, 2020, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Admissibility Review Office temporarily suspended, at the designated CBP ports of entry (POE), the collection of Form I-192, Application for Advance Permission to Enter as a Nonimmigrant, Form I-212, Application for Permission to Reapply for Admission into the United States After Deportation or Removal, and the mandatory biometrics capture for electronic applications filed via e-SAFE. This suspension will effect applicants applying at POEs along the Northern Border and Preclearance locations in Canada for non-essential travel. The suspension effective from July 21, 2020 through August 20, 2020 has been extended for another 30 days through September 21, 2020 11:59pm EDT, or until revoked.

Applicants who’ve applied via e-SAFE are encouraged to monitor their e-mail and the e-SAFE website for updates. CBP will continue to monitor the situation in order to resume biometrics capture and I-192/I-212 applications processing at the POEs as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience through this process.

CBP No Longer Processing Inadmissibility Waivers at Preclearance Locations in Canada: https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/national-media-release/cbp-no-longer-processing-inadmissibility-waivers-preclearance

e-SAFE is the new online system that will allow for electronic filing of Form I-192, Application for Advance Permission to Enter as a Nonimmigrant, and Form I-212, Application for Permission to Reapply for Admission into the United States After Deportation or Removal. Citizens of specified visa exempt countries—Canada, Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands—who are nonimmigrants and have been found inadmissible will be able to apply for a waiver online. Applicants will be able to view their application status, submit additional information if requested, and ultimately learn the outcome of their online waiver application through this system.

CBP has added additional e-SAFE Ports of Entry where applicants can complete the biometrics portion (fingerprint and photograph) of the waiver process for electronic I-192 and I-212 applications completed through e-SAFE. List of designated e-SAFE Ports of Entry.

There is no E-safe filing locations in Western Canada yet :(....so I am unable to answer any questions on this.

To anyone else, if anyone has ANY information, please bring it forward. The reason this is so important is, if the application could "stay open" past 45 days, we could get everyone to file eSAFE before October 2 so they could "lock-in" the fee of $585.00.

Unfortunately, since we don't know if it will be extended, you are risking losing the money if you try this.

Most of my clients do not yet use ESafe, but there is NO disadvantage to using it. The personal letter can be as long as you want, so filing this way is actually BETTER than in person. Whether the case is simple of complex, the SAME PEOPLE read it. When you go to the border and hand the waiver in, it is NOT ADJUDICATED there. It goes to Herndon Virginia where the file is converted to digital.

The reason I bring this up is because some people have speculated that "certain cases are better not being filed eSafe." This is absolutely not true.

What is true is certain companies aren't familiar with eSafe so try and pretend one way is "better". Its is EXACTLY the same except the border PREFERS eSAFE.

@Sid

I don't know. The rule is 45 days so my assumption is that you could be in danger of losing the money, yes.
