First time waiver applicants

Loisllposted 5 months ago

Just curious about others' experiences with the wait times for their first i-192 Application. Could anyone share timelines and outcomes of their application? Much appreciated

Replies (recent first):

@CruelSummer the problem is I don't know the circumstances.

But, if its a sexually based offence, they re-assess these all the time. I had another client, 2 waivers, both for 1 year, and on his third application they suddenly asked for more information and he is still waiting, similar timeline to yours.

If its not a sexually based conviction, and you are barely getting a 1 year waiver, then its hard to predict.

@J Rogers It has now been over 13 months since I applied at the border on Dec 8th 2024. This is my 3rd Waiver with consecutive 1 year approvals in '22 and '23. Those waivers took 4 and 5 months respectively. I have been patiently waiting after canceling multiple trips last summer and Pardons Canada(who I applied through) sent me this email om Jan 7th after they followed up with the ARO:

Supervisory review of this application has concluded. This application is on file with the CBP Admissibility Review Office (ARO), and no further information is requested of the applicant and/or their appointed representative at this time.
Due to the individual circumstances of each waiver application, there is not a set timeframe to provide as to when an application decision will be completed.
Thank you,
Admissibility Review Office

Same old run around I know. But in your experience, when a supervisory review is finished is a decision quick to come. Can it still take months and months. Also, does this feel like it could be positive or is it generally a negative to take so long with a supervisory review.

My charge is rather severe but from 2002. I have been granted a full pardon in 2019 and two previous waivers with no other run-ins with the law since then. This has been an incredibly frustrating experience, that I hope has a positive outcome. But my hope is dwindling...

@The CHI I feel your pain... We’ve had to cancel 2 trips so far, some we could get out of, others not so lucky :( Did you apply at rainbow bridge too?

Wanderlust replied 3 months ago   #29

@Wanderlust I will be 1 year on October 19th- the wait is extremely frustrating

The CHI replied 3 months ago   #28

@Yasmin thanks for the update. I applied at rainbow bridge on December 3. Hopefully something comes of it soon. Today is 10 months.

Wanderlust replied 3 months ago   #27

@Calyssa i called rainbow bridge today and the officer said ARO is very behind. 10 months the last time she checked. Emailing them is pointless.

@MarkD still waiting from November 10th 2023
:(

Calyssa replied 3 months ago   #25

@MarkD
Still waiting from Nov 30th, 2023, first time applicant

Bob Jerkins replied 3 months ago   #24

@The CHI its about an 80/20 ratio for my clients but remember that it also depends on the "why" you are inadmissible too. Most people with older problems get a 5 year waiver on their first try.

J Rogers replied 3 months ago   #23

Any updates from anybody? any luck? I am Dec1 still waiting.

MarkD replied 3 months ago   #22

Has anyone received a waiver longer than 1 year on their first application?

The CHI replied 4 months ago   #21

Seems like re-apps approvals have slowed this wk. Wonder if the push to meet the April fee hikes has passed and they will be able to focus more on the first time applicants…

Wanderlust replied 4 months ago   #20

Submitted to ARO Nov 20, 2023…. Still waiting :(

Tim2425 replied 4 months ago   #19
