Hello everyone! I really love this forum, and I have learnt a lot here. I am a first time waiver application with no criminal conviction, only overstayed my visa.
Please do you have any idea how long it takes from submission to completion. I submitted 2 weeks ago.
Also, I had my DNA taken cos I will be traveling with my kids who are minor and the CBp officer had to deny me entry into the US first before she could process my application. She explained that I will need to be refused entry first because I have never attempted to travel to the US since I left 5years ago.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Can you shed more light and also let me know how long it could take to process first time waiver application.
Hi, I have no idea what date is being approved now. I applied may 5th and I haven’t got any reply yet. Once I get it, I will update here. The last time updated was on July 5 and it took about 74 days. I’m not sure that’s still the same time frame. It has been increasing over the past few weeks. I’m anxiously waiting as well for anyone with a May submission to ARO. All the best @RG
A September Letter is a letter stating you do not NEED a waiver, and can travel freely. You show it when you travel, but it never needs to be renewed. Its the best case scenario.
-September Letter
-5 year waiver
-(anything less than 5 years)
-Rejection letter.
I see 80% 5 year waivers, 20% something else, mainly 1 year waivers. In the past 3 years, not a single client has gotten 2 consecutive 1's, so generally if you get a 1, if you re-apply you get bumped up to a 5 year waiver.

74 days for 5 year
So whenever we suspect the US has made a mistake, we merely state the facts and let them "realize" this isn't a case that requires a waiver. The Ban isn't really relevant.
You are a good candidate for a September Letter if it was a mistake. Expect it might take longer if they do consider this option, maybe up to 90 days.
Hello everyone. Thank you for your updates. It’s really helpful. My case is a little different. I was refused entry to the US 15 years ago as a student. The officer checked the wrong doc. It was an error from them. I have gone into the US after then only to be turned back again this March 2022 that I require a waiver. My lawyer suggested to apply for a waiver and also request the bann to be rescinded since there’s enough proof it was an error. Have no criminal issues nor ever overstayed in my travels. I applied for my waiver in May 5 with an additional request to reverse the bann. Do you think my processing time will be longer? Has anyone heard or had this type of case? Any advice? Please advice @J Rogers
Remember no waivers were done yesterday because its July 4rth weekend. Probably a lot of the waivers almost done may take an extra couple of days because of Monday being a holiday.
Its not an exact science. If the person working on your waiver took this whole week off (Its July) then the file sits on the desk until they get back. Its paperwork, and its one at a time, and people do not work hard before or after a long weekend generally.
