Family member is still waiting for first waiver (applied March 2025 as first timer).
Charges are theft under $5000 and possession of property by crime under $5000 from 2004.
Has anyone experienced or know someone who has been denied entry even with a waiver?
Purpose of waiver is to go to Disney World for 2 weeks with immediate family and that’s it.
Thanks!
To answer the actual question, once your waiver is granted (and I assume it will be with 2004 convictions) you will probably be fine to cross. Especially for Disney, which shows where you are staying, and when you are coming back. I doubt going to Disney makes Homeland Security suspect "maybe they are going to stay"
There have been exceptions, but with travel being reduced 60-75%, I assume less people are crossing even with waivers, (clients have told me this, but that is anecdotal) so therefore less chance of someone being denied, even with a waiver.
I have heard from clients that they are being put through secondary more often, and having devices checked more. Again, anecdotal. I have had a couple of client denied, but they were "on the surface" more likely to be suspicious because they had circumstances (worked online, dancers, suspicion of prostitution) so they are not the same as "we are going to Disney".
So I think you SHOULD be fine. And February is likely the month you will get it approximately of course.
Wow. Biden was in office from 2020-2024. You applied and were denied.
Then Trump granted you "back to back 5 year waivers".....even though he was only elected a year ago.
How did you pack 10 years worth of Waivers into 12 months?
Ill answer the gentleman in a separate message so everyone can keep looking at your post here.
I can't wait until you answer.
@TLK92 I get that you're nervous. The waiver will likely come in the next month or so. But in case anyone responds "Yes" to this question you are going to be experiencing the paradigm of "Selection Bias." Meaning that you are only going to get someone, somewhere posting of a specific instance of something bad happening.
Has someone, somewhere, been rejected with a waiver over the last few years? I'm sure they have. And they might respond to this anecdotally. And that will worry you. But what you're not going to get is the 99% or thousands and thousands of people responding to this thread saying, "No issues. All good. Don't worry."
However, It would be naive and inaccurate to suggest that tensions between Canada and USA hasn't gotten worse over the last year and change (let's not turn this political, I have my opinions on how Carney campaigned). So when you go just be prepared - what they care about the most is you not staying there / working there. Show the stable income here - they may want to see bank statements on your phone, so have your mobile bank app ready (they've never asked me this). And most importantly they want to see where you're staying, and a return date. Have your plane ticket home readily available.
-Don't let certain individuals scare you on here. I've had 1 waiver flat out denied - UNDER BIDEN. and then granted Back-to-Back 5-year waivers granted - UNDER DJT. 7 years crossing the border with waivers - never an issue, although the last year i now automatically go to secondary every time, which is annoying and frustrating to be honest with you.
