@John, yes, I agree, however there has been some improvements, the "surcharge waive" for certain years, and the reverse back to a Pardon guidelines for some years, has helped people. They are not huge improvements but a little does help. I did not go into a lot of detail on here, for obvious reasons.

@Michelle

As I said, no one has been arrested for Cannabis for years. As for old records, you either didn't care, or got a pardon already. The people who pushed for this never needed a pardon, they were trying to get publicity because they were getting into the "cannabis selling business". They did a HUGE disservice to the people who genuinely would have benefited from a revamp of the Pardon Application itself.

@John, LOL.. You are right: the Cannabis Pardon was / is a waste of time, there are so few people who benefit from it. I have only done 1 application, as the client had one Cannabis conviction on his criminal record. Nothing else, however, he had an additional that showed up on the court documents for a DUI. Of course the Parole Board was entirely shut down when I was ready to send paperwork, so I continued on as a Cannabis Pardon, but told client the DUI will cause a problem, and will most likely be processed as a regular pardon, even though the DUI is not showing on RCMP criminal record document. The Parole Board did call me and allowed the Cannabis paperwork to be accepted, but client had to pay the Parole Board fee. Honestly, in my opinion, it was a lot of hype about free pardons and sounding good, but as usual, reality is quite a bit different.

@Michelle so two straight years of "cost of living" increases. So much for the consultation where they were told to roll it back. Instead we got this useless Cannabis Pardon that no one needed.
