New Client - Accept or Deny

Michelleposted 2 years ago

It is always difficult to deny a new client; however, a honest professional Waiver Service - tries to provide you the best service possible, and sometimes the answer has to be "No, I cannot help you at this time - your chances of getting a waiver are minimum at best". Travel Waivers are difficult, as there really are not "set" guidelines such as a Record Suspension. Trafficking convictions with jail time that are under 5 years old, are a lot of work, and unless you can prove that you have completed a great deal of rehabilitation, chances are, you will be denied your waiver. It is tough to say no, but honesty is the best, and I would rather, you be upset by being told to wait a bit, then spend a lot of money and be denied. This is why John and I stand out from our competitors.

Replies (recent first):

I always assume when a person comes to the office that they are coming for 2 things.

1. Details on how the waiver works

2. What their chances are based on my best assessment of their situation

I realized a LONG time ago, you always do better when you are brutally honest. Sometimes, people still insist on "trying", but even then I warn them, that when they read the letters, and see my "personal letter" they will get convinced its going to work, but its still probably NOT going to work. Its crushing when someone is denied, even though I re-do it for free.

Here is the truth. If I am an expert, and Michelle and I are experts, we SHOULD know what the clients chances are. There are always surprises, but we should be right most of the time. You aren't JUST paying for the work, you are paying for that as well.

Time can solve this problem. Not a month goes by where a client comes in, having "waited" longer, and then tries.

People respect honesty, and your reputation takes years to build, It only takes a couple of bad decisions to rip it all down.
