Effect of COVID-19 on Waiver application locations

I was planning on going to Niagara Falls (Peace Bridge) to submit my Waiver application.

Is it possible at this time with the COVID situation?

It will be interesting to see if waiver applications will be accepted after June 21...

I doubt airports will all be open for sure. Each border crossing that does E-safe is supposed to be open. I can't see Pearson Airport taking waivers because of their facilities and the new rules Pearson Airport themselves have put into place. I could be completely wrong of course as well, this is all speculation. Where you have waivers in at Pearson is not a very big space though.

Doubt they will all be open that day. You will probably see the usual pushback from the smaller POEs who don't want to handle waivers.

Does this mean all POE will be open on that date to accept waiver applications or just a select few?

Spoke to Homeland Security in Niagara Falls.

According to them, June 21st is the date they will take waiver applications, and E-safe applicants can do their fingerprints. Spoke to them today at 3 pm. (June 4)

Oh, I didn't read all of the threads. It doesn't sound like it's open yet...

Thanks for the info! It might be worth the bus ride to Niagara to find out. But I guess if I phone in and they say no, then there is no point.

I just checked a clients E-Safe portal and it indicates "biometrics" have been pushed back from May 21 to June 21.

Anyone else verify this? I had thought June 4 but cannot see them making e-Safe people wait longer than non-e-safe.

I spoke with Customs at Portal, ND, and they are not planning on accepting applications for Travel Waivers (1-194) after June 4. He indicated that only the Visa offices are accepting visa type applications, example, work permits...So for now, I am advising people I do not know when the I-192 Applications will be accepted..might know more after June 4...Keep in mind these are small offices, not International Airports.

The opening for applications is supposed to be June 4.

I haven't heard anything to change that. That isn't for travel, that is just supposed to be to hand applications in.

Pearson Airport will NOT be taking applications for sure since the Airport itself isn't allowing anyone who is not travelling. So although I have not been told this, it stands to reason that the airport will not be taking applications in the near future.
