Documents Required

If you have a pardon do you still need to
Obtain the court records from where you were convicted or just include the full pardon documentation showing the charges ?

Is an employment letter required ?

How many character reference letters ?

Can you re-use the same statement/explanation letter each renewal and just add any new relevant facts or should it be completely re-written ?

@Samuel8911 What I am addressing is the complete confusion people seem to display that something changed from 5 + years ago.

OF COURSE things changed, it would be crazy if it was exactly the same. 5 years is a LONG time. How many of you still have the same cell phone from 5+ years ago?

@J Rogers, that's a good point about the assumption. My best answer to that is that we're landlocked and have had to cross into the US since our youth. Having crossed hundreds of times, we feel like our experience will depend greatly on the mood of the officer that day, so we assume the worst to avoid being surprised.

@Sam 84 Key point is "provided by the port of entry a few years ago".

So when Obama was President you were given a list and wonder why the program that didn't exist then is different?

Why do Canadians constantly assume nothing changed in 5 years?

Forget what you did in the past. Different application, different way of doing it. The list you were given years ago is the same as your expired passport. Garbage.

Hello there,

I am writing to inquire about a potential discrepancy between the paper document checklist provided by the port of entry a few years ago and the e-safe recommended documents for my biometrics completion next week. I am concerned that this divergence may cause difficulties or even lead to the refusal of my application by the officers at the Champlain POE

Additionally, I have noticed that the e-safe application is locked, I have uploaded all the required and relevant recommended documents. I intend to bring the original documents with me for verification.

I would greatly appreciate some clarification on this matter and any guidance you can provide to ensure a smooth and successful biometrics completion process at the Champlain poe

@Surreygirl sorry but charges are not available on pardon document

Yes you always need to include the court documents, the pardon and the criminal record check (it will show no record due to pardon but that’s ok) your pardon documents will show your charges. The police may tell you to get the criminal record check under the privacy act to show your charges but John Rogers said you don’t need to so I didn’t. Employment Letter is highly recommended or proof of self employment. Also show strong ties to your country. 2 character reference letters as well. As for the personal statement I’m not 100% sure but I used the same text to describe the incidents as that will never change and just updated it with new relevant info about my life as of today. John also suggests if your charges are drug charges you should submit a clean drug test. I also submitted drug counseling certificate and violence prevention certificate as they want to see rehabilitation.

This is from esafe:

Required documentation should include:
Personal Statement
Proof of Citizenship
Official Court Records
RCMP Certificate Form C216C'
Character Reference Letters
Prior Waiver?
Form G-283

Recommended documentation could include but not limited to:
Evidence of Rehabilitation/Reformation of Character
Evidence of Current Foreign Employment
Previous U.S. Employment
Evidence of Ties to Your Present Foreign Country/Residence
Additional evidence which may support your application
NOTE: Remember to upload all required and supporting documents before submitting your application.
'RCMP Certificate Form C216C is only required if the applicant is a Canadian citizen
2Prior Waivers are only uploaded if applicable
3Form G-28 is only required if the applicant is represented by an attorney or accredited representative

Did CBP tell you that you require a waiver?
