Biometrics questions

celentiumposted 3 months ago

I submitted my eSafe, and will call and inquire about making an appointment tomorrow or Monday if no one is around. I imagine making an appointment is most ideal, versus just showing up (during business hours of course)?

Hi, I was reading in another post about it being best to go alone, and not have someone else waiting in the car, in my case I will have to get a friend to bring me, I don't have a choice, unless I took a intercity bus and was dropped off there, but that is probably not possible.

With that in mind, what is the approximate time the biometric takes? Just to get an idea.

Oh, and an observation from someone else about not bringing in your mobile phone; I did the application myself, so I could bring my phone, but keep it on airplane mode if needed for some reason, or leave it in the car.

Thanks!

Replies (recent first):

I never made an appointment... just show up to the border crossing and tell the person working in the booth that you are there to complete biometrics. They will radio in, put a sticker on your car's windshield and direct you to park. Someone will then escort you to secondary inspection. You have to leave your phone, keys, etc IN the car. You cannot bring them inside. You'll also likely be asked to submit a DNA sample due to recent changes that came down sometime last year.

It took me 3 hours to complete, but it was a weekend and the place was busy.

Thanks!

Should I make an appointment, or can I walk-in during business hours?

Takes an hour or so once you go inside.
