Just thought of an interesting scenario:
A married couple, 1 spouse holds a valid Nexus card, the other spouse requires a waiver.
When the spouse requiring the waiver submits the application or potentially travels together with the spouse who has Nexus, could there be any unforeseen negative implications or consequences for the spouse who has nexus?
Would this scenario trigger any kind of flag or alert?
Obviously if both spouses are, for example, taking the same flight in the same day, they should go through pre-clearance together and not split up.
Ok, so in the scenario that this couple elects to travel to the United States by air, the nexus holder should use that designated lane, and the waiver holder should use the general CPB lineup.
Would CBP question the nexus holder, or is the secondary inspection purely targeted at the waiver holder to validate the waiver’s validity, go through electronic devices and confirm travel plans?
Yes, as JohnnyMony says, they use "different lanes" so the waiver person COULD be subject to secondary.
They can travel "together" but they would use separate lines.
They were harassing Nexus holders earlier in 2026, (I had a call from a guy whos heavily pregnant wife had her Nexus pulled because she had waited for 6 hours and wanted to go home. Why did they make her wait? Oh, she had attended COLUMBIA University, LEGALLY in the past and Trump didn't like IVY League Universities and was extorting money out of them, so the border guys were like happy little NAZIS and targeted her for that.
Imagine being 8 months pregnant and harassed because you are......smart. And we know Trump doesn't like "smart" women.
It looks like they have realized "oh not, this guys is going to die eventually and then they are going to seek retribution" and have started to act a bit more civilized when it comes to Canadians. Lets hope it continues.
With waiver you can not use Nexus lane at the airport or land border.
