Handing in Waivers -Quarantine and timelines - Post here

Post real application stories here. Not "A guy told me" or "a few of my clients" but specific client experiences so others can see accurately what is happening.

There are rare exceptions, but whether you file a waiver, or a waiver AND an I-212 you simply get a waiver in return. That's why I tell clients to wait. Its an extra $930USD for the exact same waiver.

Sorry, that was meant for the response below

Client #2 entered the United States illegally in 2010.

Sorry June 14th, not 16th.

Replies (recent first):

Bad day for Denials. Trafficking in 2016 cocaine - 30 months.

Note the date he went to the border. The same time it is taking to process waivers that are granted. Much different than the one this morning. I am not exactly sure what this means, since it takes much more time to write out a rejection letter than just grant a waiver.

Waiver Denied.

@J Rogers oh wow. That wasn’t wise at all. But oh well. I guess they do random vehicles checks at the border. Mine wasn’t checked.

WAIVER DENIAL

Client had a 2012 Fraud, but mitigating circumstance is when he went to the border to process the waiver, he was caught with 3 joints in his car of marijuana.
Unfortunately, this seems to be the main basis of the refusal.
Below is his timeline. Notice how it is much longer than when waivers are granted. He went to the border November 17, while most waiver are now being granted by people who went to the border in January (10th)

@wishbone

They send you an email that says "you have 30 days to download your result" and then they send out an email when there is only 10 days left.

If you miss it, you have to PAY for a replacement. Right now, January 10th people are getting their waivers. When did you go to the border? On your profile it will say "submitted to ARO" that is the official date I am talking about.

J Rogers replied 10 months ago   #1043

@J Rogers
do you get an email notification that your waiver is completed or do you have to log on your e-safe account yourself.?

wishbone replied 10 months ago   #1042

5 year waiver

Note client almost missed it. He went in December and this was the "you only have 10 days" warning. This is a multi waiver client, about 60 years old, so it hard for them to switch gears. He was literally waiting for it in the mail.

I put this up yesterday, and it got taken down. Not sure why.

1 YEAR WAIVER AND I-212

Note the I-212 was requested. We did not do them at the same time.

@New Canadian
no, they don't care . that would not be a problem

wishbone replied 10 months ago   #1038

Does traveling to Cuba on vacation stop you from getting a waiver?

New Canadian replied 10 months ago   #1037

I got my prints redone to check CPIC for criminal record, done May 9th, received May 19th in Ottawa.

I got them for my next waiver application which I'm imagine I'll need to start in a couple of months based on the posted timelines right now.

SouthernBBQ replied 10 months ago   #1036

@J Rogers Thank you. And lots of good luck to all those waiting!!!

christinadwillow replied 10 months ago   #1035

@christinadwillow

That is the wording, and I am sure if your request is reasonable and you have details and possibly a return ticket, they will let you stay the length of visit you want.

Has anyone here ever been told they had to stay less?

J Rogers replied 10 months ago   #1034

@J Rogers am wondering if all waivers have this wording: "You are granted multiple entries into the United States at various ports of entry as a visitor for business and pleasure (B1/B2) for a period of stay to be determined by the admitting officer, provided that you are not inadmissible to the United States under any other section of the law other than Section 212(a)(6)(C)(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended." Does that mean that if I ask for 30 days and he only gives me less, that would be it? Has anyone else had this situation?

christinadwillow replied 10 months ago   #1033

1 year waiver.

Mild surprise. 6 convictions from 1993-2002. Pardon granted as well. First waiver but I am not sure why only a 1 year. 2002 Was using Fake ID to enter Canada, so maybe some concern there?
